Último día con nuestros amigos

Hoy 6 de mayo los niños y profesores visitaron el Museo Ausros y también el antiguo molino en Siauliai donde aprendimos sobre las tradiciones de cómo hacer pan e hicimos nuestro propio pan.

Posteriormente los niños fueron con sus familias a preparar el festival de música y baile para despedirnos.
Mañana volaremos a Madrid y terminará nuestra maravillosa experiencia en Lituania.

Last day with our friends
Today 6th May, both teachers and students visited the Ausros Museum and also the old flour mill in Siauliai, where they learnt about the traditions surrounding breadmaking and made their own bread.
After this, the children went with their host families for a short while in the afternoon to prepare for the farewell dance and music festival.
Tomorrow we will fly to Madrid and end our wonderful experience in Lithuania!

Día en el Colegio

Hoy 4 de mayo pasamos el día en el colegio y los alumnos lituanos representaron varias canciones y bailes. Todos los profesores y alumnos nos reunimos para representar la cultura de nuestro país y mostramos los vídeos que habíamos realizado.

Después de una intensa conferencia, disfrutamos de la comida típica en el comedor del colegio y seguidamente realizamos 3 talleres: taller de escultura, pintura de mándalas y cocina tradicional donde hicimos galletas tradicionales. Tanto los alumnos como los profesores lo pasamos genial. Finalmente tras una larga jornada, los alumnos se marcharon con sus familias y nosotras al hotel.

Tour around the School
Today 4th May we spent the whole day at school and Lithuanian students performed several songs and dances. All teachers and students met to represent the culture of our countries and we showed them the DVDs we had made. After an intensive conference, we tasted the traditional food in the dining room of the school. Next, we carried out 3 workshops: sculpture, mandalas and cookery workshops “traditional biscuits” where both teachers and students had a great time. Finally, after an intensive day, students left with their families and we went to our hotel.

Tour por Kernavé, Trakai y Vilna

Hoy 3 de mayo madrugamos mucho para irnos de excursión en autobús a uno de los sitios de interés turísticos más importantes en Lituania. Empezamos visitando una de las ciudades más antiguas llamada Kenarvé. En su día fue la primera capital de Lituania. De hecho es una ciudad pequeña donde hemos visitado una iglesia preciosa rodeada de casas de madera. También disfrutamos de unas maravillosas vistas del el río y las colinas que le rodeaban.
Más tarde visitamos el Castillo de Trakai, una sorprendente fortaleza medieval de grandes dimensiones situado en las orillas de un gran lago. Allí hicimos un alto en el camino para degustar un plato típico de la región llamado “Kibinai”.

Después viajamos a Vilna para visitar el Palacio Real situado en el maravilloso centro de la ciudad. ¡Hoy lo hemos pasado fenomenal!

Tour around Kernavé, Trakai and Vilnus
Today 3rd May we awoke early to take the bus on an excursion to see some of the most beautiful sights of Lithuania. We began by visiting the old town of Kernavé, once the 1st capital of Lithuania. Actually a small town with beautiful traditional wooden housing and impressive church, from which we could appreciate the magnificent views of the river and surrounding hills.
Later, we visited the Castle of Trakai, a spectacular medieval fortress of large dimensions, which is situated on the banks of a large lake, after which we stopped for lunch, enjoying the typical meal of Kibinai. After that, we travelled to Vilnus to visit the Royal Palace in the lovely city centre. We have had a great day!.

Tour por Siauliai


Hoy 2 de mayo nos fuimos de tour por la ciudad de Sialiai, la cuarta ciudad más grande en Lituania y la más antigua. El nombre de la ciudad procede de la palabra lituana “sol” y a él se le han dedicado muchos monumentos. Este año se ha celebrado su 780 aniversario de su independencia. Posteriormente fuimos al Ayuntamiento donde conocimos al Alcalde. Visitamos el Monasterio y la Colina de Cruces donde se estima que unas 100.000 cruces o más se han dejado allí para pedir deseos y salud a Dios. Seguidamente visitamos la Catedral de la ciudad dedicada a San Pedro y San Pablo y construida en 1625.

Posteriormente fuimos al colegio Geguaiai donde nos dieron la bienvenida y nos deleitaron con bailes típicos de la región y tuvimos la ocasión de degustar la comida típica lituana. Realizamos un tour por el colegio y después realizamos un taller de lengua lituano y clase de historia donde disfrutamos mucho.

Finalmente, nuestros alumnos se marcharon con sus familias y nosotras volvimos al hotel para descansar.

Tour around Siauliai
Today 2nd May we went on a tour around Siauliai, the fourth largest Lithuanian city and the oldest of the four. The name of the city comes from the Lithuanian word for the sun to which many monuments are dedicated and the city has this year celebrated their anniversary of 780 years of independence. Next, we went to the Town hall where we met the Mayor. We visited the Monastery and the Hill of Crosses where an estimated 100,000 crosses or more have been left as petitions to God. Following that we visted the Cathedral of the city dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul and built in 1625.
After that, we went to school where we were given an amazing welcome by students and teachers. We could enjoy traditional dances and we had the chance to taste the typical Lithuanian food. We went on a tour around the school and later, we carried out a workshop of Lithuanian language and History. All of us enjoyed it a lot and finally, students left with their families and we came back to the hotel to rest.

Llegada a Siauliu

Hoy 1 de mayo tras nuestra llegada a tierra lituana, nos reunimos con el resto de nuestros socios tras haber volado desde Madrid hasta Frankfurt y desde allí al aeropuerto de Riga.

Por la mañana nos llevaron en autobús directamente al colegio Siauliu Geguziu Progimnazija donde conocimos a las familias, profesores y alumnos.Como el día ha sido muy completo,  nuestros alumnos se marcharon con sus familias y nosotras volvimos al hotel para descansar.

Arrival in Siauliu
Today 1st May after our arrival in Lithuanian lands, we met the rest of our partners. We flew from Madrid to Frankfurt and from Frankfurt to Riga.
In the morning we took a bus to their Siauliu Geguziu Progimnazija school where we could see meet the families, teachers and students.
As the day has been intensive, students left with their families and we came back to the hotel to rest.
